INTRODUCTION COURSE
Who should attend Introductory ?
This course has been
specifically developed for both the notice MapInfo User or for those of who may
be “out of practice”. By attending this new course you can unleash the power of
MapInfo Professional and get some hands on experience with the latest version
of the software.
What will this course allow me to do?
The MapInfo Professional
Introduction Course defines the concept of a Geographic Information System
(GIS) and provides you with an understanding of basic MapInfo Functionality
that will enable you to create maps and analyze your data in a spatial context.
We have also included several self-paced problem solving exercises that are
designed to reinforce the various topics and features covered in this course.
Prerequisites?
We ask that you have sound
working knowledge of Windows and that you are familiar with tool button and
menu driven applications before attempting this course

Who
should attend Data Creation & Manipulation ?
The MapInfo Professional
Map Creation & Data Management Course is aimed at those who have completed
the MapInfo Professional Introduction Course or those who have an equivalent
knowledge of the MapInfo Professional Environment and are able to perform basic
MapInfo functions.
What will this course allow me to do?
Gain better understanding
about what MapInfo can do for your business and determine the best way to
display and interpret your own data. Find out how to plot points on a Map using
the geocoding feature that enables you to view and analyze your customers or
business sites spatially. Discover how Redistricting and buffering tools allow
you to easily recognize trends and patterns that are always identifiable when
using standard tabular databases. Improve your mapping skills and learn how to
manipulate and display data so you can produce more meaningful maps. Explore
the various ways in which you can import non-MapInfo files so that you may
utilize your corporate data within the MapInfo environment.
Increase your geocoding
“hit-rate” by utilizing MapInfo’s advanced geocoding functions. Once you have
created the perfect Map, then use the HTML Image Map tool to launch it on the
world wide Web. If these are the skills that you require to perform your
analysis in a more efficient and effective manner, then this is the course for
you.
Prerequisites?
Before attempting the
MapInfo Professional Map Creation & Data Management Course, it is
recommended that you have completed the MapInfo Professional Introduction
Course. However we also encourage the attendance of those persons who have had
some experience with MapInfo Software and believe they have developed a
sufficient skill set to successfully attempt this course. Alternatively,
contact your nearest MapInfo office and they will send you our “MapQuiz”- a
quick self-assessment to compare your knowledge with that required for this
course.

should attend Spatial Analysis ?
To cater for The needs of
more experienced Mapinfo user, we have designed the MapInfo Professional
Geographic Analysis & Presentation Course. Acquire a better knowledge of
the more sophisticated features and the tools available within MapInfo
Professional that together enable you to get the most out of your data and
discover its true meaning.
What will this course allow me to do?
This course explores the
conventions of MapInfo’s Structured Query Language (SQL) and shows you how to
manipulate your data by joining and sorting tables using Mapinfo functions,
aggregate and operators. Learn how to display complex analytical information
without crowding your thematic Maps. Explore a number of methods for making
your thematic maps more informative through MapInfo’s customization features,
such as bivariate shading, inflection points and range calculation methods.
Find out how you can create your own graphic objects and how to manipulate
existing graphic object using MapInfo’s button pads and menu system.
Prerequisites?
A thorough working
knowledge of Mapinfo Professional is required before attending this course, and
ideally you will have completed both the MapInfo Professional Introduction also
